Baby Blues or Depression?
Many new moms feel anxious and overwhelmed after having a baby. More than half of new moms may have "Baby Blues". You many cry and feel sad when you know you are supposed to be happy. "Baby Blues" usually goes away in less than two weeks.
Depression is worse than the "Baby Blues" and lasts longer. Depression can begin during the pregnancy, after birth or anytime in the year after giving birth.
Signs of Depression:
- Crying
- Anxious
- Sad
- Feelings of Guilt
- Sleeping Problems
- Lack of Energy
- Loneliness
- Change in Appetite
- Thoughts of hurting self or baby
- Anger
- Feeling Overwhelmed
