Fetal & Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) of Southwestern
Indiana – 2007 statistics:

  • In 53% of reviewed fetal & infant deaths, the mother was a smoker.
    53% with fetal deaths smoked. 53% with infant deaths smoked.
  • Smoking increases the risk of infant death by 51% among mothers of all races.
